Meet the Board

Officers

Executive Director - Debbie de la Riva
Debbie joined the Lone Star Chapter shortly after her son was born with severe hemophilia A. It did not take long before she was "hooked" because she was able to see the difference that a strong chapter can make in the lives of those affected with a bleeding disorder. She also has a daughter, Cristina, and a wonderful husband who is very active in the chapter.

President - Brian Compton

First Vice-President - Regina Aguirre
(consumer)
Regina has a young, active son with severe hemophilia. Early in her term, she expressed a desire to work with the families in the McAllen area and as a result she has formed a very important bridge between the Chapter and those families.

Second Vice-President - Gina Koch
(consumer)
Gina and her husband, Steve, have a school aged son with hemophilia. Gina has been an active board member for many years and has always offered good advice on matters concerning this community.

Treasurer - Allison Pohl
(consumer)
Allison has a young son with hemophilia and became very active in the Chapter from the beginning. Allison and her husband, Pat, have already helped with the First Step group, became parent leaders in the PEP Program, and co-chaired the auction portion of the Casino Night.

Secretary - Brian Compton
(consumer)
Brian is another board member who became very active from the time their child was born with hemophilia. He is currently the Chapter liaison to Camp Ailihpomeh. He also chaired a toy drive last Christmas that brought joy to many of our families in need.

Trustees

Matt Schmidt
(consumer)
Matt Schmitt is a new addition to the board and has severe hemophilia A. He is currently attending Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. He has attended hemophilia camp since he was seven years old and was a counselor last summer. He is the youngest member on the board and would like to add a new, youthful voice for the board.

Vicki Jefferson
(consumer)
Vicki, a 1st year trustee on the board and has been a member of the LSC for 11 years. She has a 12 year old son with Von Willebrands Disease - Type II-B , diagnosed at 18 months old. Vicki has devoted time volunteering with the chapter throughout the years. She has since been trained to "train-the-trainer" and to spearhead the "Woman-to-Woman" group for the "Red Flag Project" in the LSC area. She strives to educate at least 900 women in the community by the end of 2005 about possible undiagnosed bleeding disorders, such as Von Willebrands Disease.

Kelley Buchanan
